Dr. Bin Tang Visits China with Ontario Premier’s Delegation

On November 22, Ontario Premier Wynne led a business delegation together with Michael (Guozhi) Chan, Ministry of International Trade, for the Ontario Premier’s trip to China.  This time there will be a total of 100 members of the business delegation traveling to China.  Mr. Chan said that in the past two trips, each time they brought back about $ 1 billion of business to Canada. It is expected that more than $ 1 billion of commercial agreements could be signed this time.

Chan (Guozhi) pointed out that this visit will show the Chinese customers the competitive advantages of the strengths of Ontario, including financial products, agricultural products, medical technology and high-end technology. He said Ontario has a diversified economic strength and population. Other industries also have huge potential business opportunities in China. Most importantly, Canadian enterprises are willing to take the initiative to explore opportunities.

China is Ontario’s second largest trading partner in the world. Bilateral trade has increased by nearly 40% over the past five years, reaching a total of 42 billion Yuan in 2016.

Premier Wynne said: “The establishment of a partnership with China is crucial to the economic development of Ontario. The previous trips led by my delegation to China have gained billions of dollars of investment. I am very happy to go for the third time and continue to strengthen our partnership. The Anglican economy is diverse and innovative and has become the best and most competitive investment hot spot in the world. First, I sincerely hope that Chinese enterprises can make use of what Ontario has to offer. ”
